Spring Break from school was very interesting for our family. Everyone in the family took a turn getting the stomach bug.... but in between the sickness we were able to do some fun things.
The first fun thing we did was visit the Farm and Ranch Museum up in Las Cruces, New Mexico. We met some friends up there and we were greeted at the entrance by a big owl that hooted at us!
This is one of the best museums we have visited! This is one of the kids play areas and it was a real hit.
The girls going for a tractor ride.
All the kids wanted a chance to drive the tractors.
Peek a boo!
Christian like the rocking horse too.
We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed it near a fun outdoor playground with our friends.
In addition to the indoor museum there are outdoor barns with animals to see. We crossed the bridge to see the outdoor portion.
Look, two sheep! (Did we pull the wool over your eyes?)
Here is a picture with all the kids!
We even saw some horses.
Near the dairy barn there is an exhibit talking about the importance of calcium! Cal, the talking skeleton you see there, made a big impression on the kids.
The milking station.
Trying to rope a cactus.
Inside the gift shop there is yet another fun interactive area- a general store. Sylvia is warming herself by the "furnace".
Playing in the general store was a blast. Mommy went around with her basket pretending to buy food then Andrew would run the check out counter and re stock as Sylvia swept up.
Poor Sylvia had her turn with the stomach bug too!
When everyone was recovered we went to the zoo with some friends. The kids always like to say hi to the meercats.
Riding the carousel.
We've been to the zoo many times but we had never watched a show at the zoo before.
We watched a sea lion show and it was impressive.
We are glad we could do some fun activities during Spring Break despite everyone being sick at some point.
