Tippecanoe and Tyler (and Rachel!) too

We have been finding adventurous things to do here in the great metropolis of LA (Lower Alabama). So far we have visited Georgia and explored the two lakes on post but we were feeling especially courageous so...this weekend we drove down to a river and went on a canoe trip!

We drove to the start point where we rented a canoe from two redneck men.  They said there was less of a chance that we would see snakes or alligators in the river because of the season.  We thought the weather was perfect and were glad we weren't canoeing in snake infested waters.

We did see turtles, fish and a lot of bugs. The highlight of the canoe trip was probably the spring where we got out of our canoe and swam around.  The water was crystal clear and the bottom was a breathtakingly blue (also the water was breathtakingly cold until you started swimming around).  We want to go back just so we can take pictures underwater and bring goggles to explore.

Canoeing was also a good test of our marriage because we had to work together and understand each others strengths while communicating, to steer the canoe.

It was a very pleasant day and we had a fun time.

We finished up the day by babysitting for some of our friends.  Their little girl is our buddy and we had nice evening playing with her.
