Aunt Cami's Visit

We were so glad Camille came to visit us for a week in June!  She played with the kids a lot and helped Rachel around the house.  It was so nice to have her visit! We had a lot of fun.

Here she is meeting Sylvia for the first time.

Aunt Cami and Sylvia became fast friends.

This picture was taken after we went shopping.  Andrew shopped till he dropped.

Buddies!

We had nice weather most of the time.  It did thunderstorm in the evenings so we weren't able to do some of our plans (like the outdoor concert and swimming because the pool was closed).

But it was fun just hanging out together.

Andrew liked to type on Aunt Cami's computer or as he calls it, "mu-num-ma-num".

Sunday nap time.

We went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and had a blast!

Andrew was nervous of the animals at first.  Especially the giraffes because they got so close to him!

He loved the meercats.  I think he thought they were cats because he kept meowing.

Andrew liked the statues of animals almost as much as the actual animals.

The elephant exhibit was the coolest because it overlooked all of Colorado Springs.  Here Andrew is watching the elephant use its trunk to pick up food and put it in its mouth.  He learned a lot at the zoo.  He also learned how to say lion which sounds like, "ooien".

Andrew and Aunt Cami at the elephant exhibit! Sylvia is sleeping in the stroller.  She slept most of the visit and missed the fact that we were at the zoo.

Adventure is out there!

In the Australia world, the peacocks and wallabies roamed free.

There's a wallaby!

Andrew loved watching the alligators.  He thought they were cool.

But he may have liked the statue more...

Watch out for the teeth!

In the primate house, the cutest thing ever was the tiny baby ape that was peeking out of the hammock where it was supposed to be resting with its mom.  The little baby reminded us of Sylvia when her hair is messy.

A moose!

We took a break to eat some pb and j, grapes, and drink some water.  It was a hot day!  It started sprinkling right as we were leaving so our visit was perfectly timed.

We also visited the splash pad while Cami was here.  We loved having Camille come stay with us and hope she had fun and comes to visit again soon.  We love you Aunt Cami!!!!!

Summertime so far

It's been a busy summer for us here in Colorado. Tyler spent two and a half weeks away for some training, came home for two days, then spent another volunteering at Boy Scout camp. Because we knew he would be gone so much we made the best of the time we had when he was at home.

A guy from Tyler's work told us about a military appreciation day held at a small town in Southern Colorado. We loaded up the kids and made the two hour drive to Westcliffe, CO. They had lots of fun activities there such as:

A Huey gunship that flew in the Vietnam War.

Fresh mountain air

Alpacas

The Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard, who put on a fruit slicing, balloon shooting show for us.

Army trucks

Hi mom!

And Andrew's personal favorite, tractors!

He spent a good 45 minutes being pushed around on the toddler tractors

It was the longest road trip we took with two little ones, but it was worth the drive!

Andrew loves to play in the car

and wear daddy's hat and gloves.

Living in a tent near the airfield wasn't too bad. The infantry guys spent a lot of time sleeping on the ground or trudging through the mud all night to reach their objective. Tyler was sure glad he went aviation!

We were able to call and Face Time occasionally. Tyler was pretty busy and the reception wasn't very good.

He spent most of his time running the operations center, but he did get a chance to fly for a few hours. (Don't mind all the bugs splatted on the windshield)

June 5th was national doughnut day!

We got some free doughnuts holes from a local bakery with unique flavors and bought a peanut butter and jelly doughnut.

Andrew approves!

Our little ones sitting on the porch swing. We always love playing outside.

Mommy and Sylvia got new swimsuits just in time for summer. We have a weekly routine of visiting the Library every Wednesday and the Splash Pad every Thursday.  We took this selfie after getting back from the Splash Pad.

I'm (everyone's) so glad when daddy comes home! As soon as daddy took off his boots, Andrew put them on and started walking around.

We only had a couple of days together until Tyler left for Scout Camp, and we went for a walk together to enjoy the nice weather

It has been raining a lot here so there was lots of water in the creek and the vegetation was growing high

The happy Carson family!

Andrew had lots of fun toddling around in his little shorts, crocs, and hat.

We even found a frog!

Take a hike!

Andrew loved exploring outside

He even climbed a few trees

Peek a boo!

Daddy snuggled our little ones as much as he could because of all the time he had to spend away from them.

They are a pretty snuggly bunch after all

Andrew loves helping out in the kitchen and I now think it's because he gets to sample the food!

In closing, here's a picture of Andrew dancing with Mike Wazowski. We are having a great summer so far.
