After returning from South Manitou Island, Rachel met everyone at the dock and the crew continued along the northern coast to Mackinaw City. We stayed in a hotel that night and everyone was anxious to shower and sleep in a bed after their camping trip! The next morning we left early to ride a ferry over to Mackinac Island!
We didn't ride this pirate ship but the kids would have loved it if we did.

Mackinac Island fudge is a big thing in Michigan, we got to watch the professionals make the fudge on the marble tables.
Sylvia loved all the horses!
There were many fudge shops, here was an impressive chocolate showcase.
We toured the island in two different groups- Tyler and the young people rented and rode bikes while Rachel and the kids and rest of the adults went on a horse drawn carriage tour.

The island is fairly small so they biked all around the entire island. You can see Mackinac Bridge in the distance.

Another cool church building- Tyler couldn't go inside this one to take pictures because there was a wedding taking place. We later saw members of the wedding party walking around town.

The kids had lots of fun visiting different sites. We stopped during the tour changed carriages a couple of times.

Mackinac Island is famous for the Grand Hotel. It is said they paint the outdoor ceilings blue so birds and bugs think it is the sky and don't build nests. It looked nest-free to me so I guess it's true.
