Andrew and Rachel's Birthday

Andrew turned 3 and Mommy turned 28 on July 30, 2016!

But before our actual birthday, we celebrated Andrew's 3rd with a dinosaur themed party!

Opening gifts the evening before the party.  I like Sylvia's face in this picture.  She is very excited!

The kids played in the fun pool for the first part of the birthday party.

And we had water balloons and squirt guns.

It was a hot day and perfect for playing in the water.

The boys: Cody

Andrew

Marshall

We had lunch after playing outside

Brontosaurus burgers (bbq sliders)

Dino nuggets

Grandma carved the watermelon to look like a T-rex.

Baby dino cookies

Fossil cookies

And the cake!

There were some kids tunes playing in the background and the kids broke out in impromptu Old McDonald karaoke.

After lunch it was time for the pinata!

The older kids were blindfolded but the younger ones, Andrew included, didn't use it.  He said, "I don't need that Mommy".

It took a long time for these kids to break it open and in the end, Uncle Bennett had to help tear it open.

Sylvia was good at grabbing the candy.

Aunt Cami was holding baby Winston, our youngest party guest.

We decorated the candy bags with dinosaur stickers.

Then it was time for cake!!

Happy Birthday to Andrew! Happy Birthday to you!

It was a white cake with chocolate cream filling and buttercream frosting.

G.g. came to the party and gave all the kiddos rides in the golf cart.

Andrew is giving Lily big hugs in this picture.

Rolling and running down the hill.

The bigger kids went off playing in the field.  Here they are just sitting in the grass.  The next minute they were up running all over again.  Sylvia and Cody were playing together in the play house.

A present from Lily and Marshall specially decorated.

On our actual birthday we were up north at Aunt Diane and Tom's house.  We were on the river all day tubing down Pine River.

The river empties into Lake Michigan.  It was beautiful with the waves, distant sand dunes, and shallow warm pools on the beach.

We picked up a Dairy Queen ice cream cake to share with everyone on the way back.  It was delicious.  We had wonderful birthdays!

  2. Looks like your birthdays were well-celebrated! I'm sure Andrew loved his dinosaur party. How cute that he told you he didn't need the blindfold to hit the pinata--I know that some of those are pretty hard to break. It's great that Cami and Bennett could be there for the festivities.
