Thanksgiving and Such

The month of November has been full of family fun and traveling.

 Taken at the Atlanta airport

On Veterans Day weekend we went to Virginia.  The Carson family had planned a wonderful Open House to celebrate our marriage.  Adri and Sophia were there along with David and Brooke Judd.  It was a great weekend full of good company and lots of yummy food.

For Thanksgiving we drove to Murphy, North Carolina to spend it with Rachel’s family.  It was a six hour drive from Fort Rucker and we definitely felt the temperature difference in the mountains.  We enjoyed taking hikes around the mountain, eating too much turkey, and we even went zip lining.  It was good bonding time for Rachel’s family and Tyler.  They were delighted to enjoy more of Tyler’s punny sense of humor.

From the hike:

The men brought Grandpa’s machetes to clear the trail.  They took their job very seriously.

We enjoyed the beautiful scenery North Carolina had to offer.

Sammy loves his new brother! In his words, “I’ve been waiting all my life for an older brother who was nice to me….. I’m still waiting.” Tyler's quote from the weekend came when we were riding to the movie theater to watch "Wreck-it Ralph". Sam said that he had never seen "The Grinch" (or something like that) and Tyler said, "Sam, do you even celebrate Christmas?"

Zip Lining! It was a chilly day… luckily the lodge provided hot chocolate and cider!

Tyler was a pro! If he had stolen anything he would have been a con.

What a great view!

Tyler continues in his Blackhawk training and will have his first day of flying very soon.  Rachel enjoys playing intramural volleyball and craft parties with her new friends.  Christmas is right around the corner!  If you know of anyone wanting a link to our blog please let us know!

  3. Doh-- Tyler finally has a little brother to look up to him!! You can teach Sam how to tell corny puns and speak using a black woman's voice. The options are endless on the profound impact you can have on your impressionable little brother. It's a heavy burden placed on your shoulders, Tyler, so try to take your new responsibilities seriously.

I'm glad you had a good time with Rachel's family in North Carolina.
