Helicopters, Honeymoon and Halloween

Happy Halloween from a bunch of bananas!

More on the adventures of Tyler and Rachel... if you haven't heard, we got a new camera!  It's a Pentax underwater camera and we LOVE it because it is so much fun. Pentax Optio WG-2

We were happy to have trick or treaters come by the house.  (They ate ALL the candy!)

We think this doesn't require any more of an explanation.

We have been keeping our eye on craigslist for the perfect piano.  On our two month anniversary, we got it! It is a charming Nordheimer piano and has made our house so much more home-like.  Thanks to our good friend with a truck, we were able to make the trip to Dothan and back to bring our piano home.

In other news... we bought a fire pit.  It's perfect for Alabama nights out back roasting marshmallows and hot dogs.
Nifty panoramic feature is fun to use.

We are so proud to announce that Tyler was selected to fly UH-60 helicopters...He is a Blackhawk pilot! We are very excited for all his new career opportunities in the future! He is a hard worker and will continue to do a great job.  We had cake to celebrate.

We had to delay a honeymoon because of Tyler's training but since Tyler had a little break before starting the Blackhawk course, we went down to Destin, Florida! We had a great time and even though the weather was sometimes chilly, we couldn't be happier with the Inn we stayed at or the white beaches and The Gulf of Mexico.

The First day we arrived Saturday late afternoon and immediately went out to the beach! We enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

 Panorama!

The Bed and Breakfast Inn that we stayed at was right across the street from the beach, a minute walk, and they also had a three tiered pool with a hot tub.  Later that night we ate the best seafood (snow crab and fried shrimp) at a little Sports Bar and Grill.  We had our fill of crab that night!

We couldn't resist stopping by a Florida tourist shop and picking up some goggles. It was a great idea!

Sunday we visited the local Miramar LDS branch building for church.  The rest of the day we enjoyed beautiful nature.  The sun and beach were bright and warm.

Here are some of the millions of underwater pictures we took.  Luckily we had no photo bombing sharks.  The water was so salty it was difficult not to float to the surface every time.

 Tyler is a superhero!

Sand reminiscent of the white cliffs of Dover.

We built a sand castle!

Watch out for the wave Tyler!

 Too late!

Later that night we went out crabbing.
That means hunting for crabs walking on the
beach because we wanted to take some pictures.
No crabs to be found!  So we took a picture of sunburned us instead.

Monday we checked out of our room and enjoyed the beach a little more.  We were very close to Henderson Beach State Park and it was fun to walk down and visit.

We left our initials in the sand as we said goodbye to a lovely honeymoon and stunning beaches of Destin.

  1. It sounds like you guys are having lots of fun! As I looked at these pictures, it really just reiterated to me that you guys are PERFECT for each other. The dancing banana video is priceless, and the goggles picture is perfect. Can't wait to see you guys next week!

  2. "A Great time was had by all" I'll be saving that dancing bananna photo to show your teenage kids some day! Looks like you had a great time. Congratulations on your flight assignment, and on the new family member (The piano I mean). Now Rachel can some day teach piano to pay for kids missions, college, and then travel to see the grandkids....unless you settle down and your kids have a home... but that is a long time from now, so just enjoy!
