Veteran's Day Visit

Tyler's parents visited during Veteran's Day weekend. It was lots of fun having Grandma and Granddad Carson around!

We had nice sunny weather most of the time they were here so they spent a lot of time outside with us and the kids. Here they are coming back from looking at a big inflatable turkey lawn decoration that is a few houses down

Granddad carrying the kids like some sacks of potatoes!

Chilling on the couch

Andrew and Sylvia liked to ambush granddad and pretend to fly on his legs

The first thing Andrew did when he woke up from nap time was go down to the guest room and find Grandma and Granddad and snuggle in bed with them

The kids really enjoyed having the Carson Grandparents around, what with twice the love and attention and all

Whether it was play time or nap time, the kids could always count on Grandma and Granddad to read a story or play with them.

They also helped us with lots of projects around the house. We went to Lowe's a few times to get items for home improvements.  These are exciting trips for the kids because of the car carts and the big Christmas balloons on display.

Our biggest accomplishment of the weekend was our kitchen renovation.  This is a before picture:

A before/during picture as we started to take the cabinet doors off.

After we de-glossed everything we began painting.

Many hands make light work, or at least made the job go a lot quicker.  Granddad's expertise was invaluable as well!

Here Tyler is putting on the glaze after the paint had dried.  We did most of the work while the kids were napping or in bed for the night.  Not pictured is the light box in our kitchen which used to be the same wood color as the cabinets.  Tyler painted it white and now it just seems to blend into the ceiling.

The finished product!

Love that back splash... it really is a huge transformation!

On Friday we drove a couple of hours north to Fort Collins, Colorado.  There is a newly dedicated temple and we went to visit.  We stopped for lunch beforehand at Subway.  Eat fresh.

It was a beautiful day and the temple is gorgeous.

Tyler and Rachel spent some time inside while Grandma and Granddad played with the kids.  Here we are all together before we headed home.

Another project was putting up shelving in the guest room closet.

Granddad and Sylvia

After church on Sunday we took this cute picture of the kids with their loving grandparents.

Andrew loved having breakfast time with Granddad.

Grandma left on Monday and Granddad stayed a couple extra days with us.  After we dropped Grandma off at the airport we played at a playground and watched her airplane fly away.

One morning we went to the Nature Center with Granddad.  It is one of the kids favorite places to go and they enjoyed showing Granddad all the cool stuff there is to see.

It was a beautiful very warm day and we even walked around the lake.

What a cool picture with the mountains in the background and everything.

We love when grandparents come to visit! Here is another group shot of everyone.  Thanks for coming to visit Grandma and Granddad!!

  1. Dad and I had such a good time on our visit to Colorado! We loved seeing the Fort Collins Temple with your family and helping you with some home improvement projects. I'm amazed your kitchen makeover was accomplished in just a day and a half. You have a precious family and a good life!
